Skills Over Stuff: Your Weekly Survival Practice Plan

Prepping isn’t just collecting gear—it’s building capability. Every week, I pick one survival skill and practice it for real.

  • Some ideas to try:
  • Fire-starting without a lighter
  • Walking a bug-out route with your pack
  • Cooking a full meal on a rocket stove
  • Filtering water using your backup gear
  • Knot tying for shelter setup
  • Orienteering with a map & compass

Why? Because in a crisis, you don’t rise to your equipment—you fall to your training. It’s better to make mistakes in practice than in panic.

Even 15 minutes a week builds confidence. Set a skill challenge and post about it. Let’s train like our lives depend on it—because one day, they might.
